SEASON OVER?

(9/14/09; photos: chicagotribune.com)

Could Sunday's long night in Green Bay wind up making a short season for the Bears? Losing to the Packers is never good, even when you have 15 more games to make up for it. Losing a team captain for the season midway through the first game coupled with a career worst 4-interception performance by the new "franchise" quarterback makes it seem that much worse. Oh, and the home opener is coming up Sunday against the defending Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers. When does spring training start?

ROCKY MOUNTAIN HI?
New Bears QB and Savior Jay Cutler received a rousing ovation of boos in his return to Denver on August, 30 for the Bears third preseason game of 2009. He started off tentative and with bad field position almost surrendering a safety (There should have been a holding call in the end zone on one of those plays) early in the game, which brought the Broncos faithful to their feet. He was able to engineer a 98-yard touchdown drive in the Bears 27-17 victory. Former Bears QB Kyle Orton wasn't too hot and suffered a cut on his right index finger. Don't know if the teacher kissed it and put a Mickey Mouse band aid on it. Cutler got what he wanted, a win and for the game to be over. Preseason is now over, so it's time for the opener at Green Bay on Sept. 13, on the Frozen Tundra of Lambeau Field.

HE'S BAAAACK...AGAIN!

Three weeks after saying no to the Minnesota Vikings, 39-year old, and twice retired QB, Brett Favre says yes to the "Purple & Gold." He signed a 2-year, $25 million contract. The man has changed uniforms three times in three years and has made plenty of money and has much more to come in the next couple of years so why does he have to wear that rotten stinkin' cap? Why would he go back and forth about wanting to play this year similarly to how he did last year before joining the Jets. HE DOESN'T WANT TO PRACTICE! Is it fair to pay someone so much more than everyone else for only doing part of his job? If Brett Favre wants to play by his own rules, tell him to buy his own team, hire himself as the coach and make himself the quarterback. Does he improve the Vikings? Probably. Is he going to get them to the Super Bowl? Dream on.
