Thanks for joining the Village of Bolingbrook for the special Memorial Day 2010 event @ Meyer Park on 279 West Briarcliff Road (near the Library and Post Office) as the Pavilion was named after fallen soldier Michael Pearson. Your appreciation of his service and support to the family and community he grew up in by attending the special event is much appreciated.
Thanks to all those who attended and donated generously at the Bolingbrook Community Choir performance at Bolingbrook High School on Sunday, May 2nd. All donations went toward the Michael Pearson Music Scholarship Fund. Keep checking back for more events to honor Michael's service to the country and his passion for music.
Bolingbrook's own Michael Pearson was the 13th victim of the Fort Hood shooter as he died of his wounds late on Nov. 5, 2009. I ask of you to remember him as more than just a numbered victim in this horriffic crime. I know his family, and my heart sank when I heard the news that he was injured and that things didn't look good for him. My heart broke to hear that he had passed by the time I woke up the next morning. Please send out your thoughts and prayers to his family in this very difficult time. This young man was dedicated to serving his country for all of us. It is a shame that he is gone at such a young age, but an even bigger shame that he didn't even get the chance to serve that he so desperately wanted. He will be missed, and I can only hope that the pain of his loss will ease over time for the loved ones he has left behind. Read more about him and his family's reaction here.
